OCT'14 LOOTS OF THE MONTH

I don't know why but I always get so excited talking about my hauls! 🙊

It is too early to start drafting (date check: 2/10/14) but I can't contain my excitement thinking about all the things I want to get VS all the things I will get.

Anyway, I'll be updating as the days go by.

1. Haldis Cheerleader Flare Skirt ($23) from ellysage (sold out)

This is my first time purchasing from ellysage and I'm so glad I made this flare skirt my first buy! Coming in my favourite shade of pink, I knew this was a keeper when I first laid my eyes on them (which was almost a month ago by the way). I mean, how could I possibly resist it!? 😍 Just looking at it makes me feel so happy!

Another plus point is it comes with a sewn-on safety shorts! The skirt appears really short on me, especially from behind, so the inner shorts is really an encouraging point.

Flare skirts work magic for me. I love how they fit at my waist and then proceed to fall lightly on my hips, accentuating the curves while making my bottom seem less heavy than it normally does.

If you're wondering why I always hesitate to buy anything, it's because I tend to try my luck to see if the prices will drop. Thankfully, courtesy of the discount code sent out by ellysage, I received a 20% off the retail price ($23)! In fact, the discount code was applicable to all items if I remember correctly. Anyway, I only paid $18.90 in the end (including $0.50 for self-collection)!!!

2. Kayla Pearl Choker Necklace ($18.90) from The Cloveri (sold out)

(Spot my pores but please don't judge my complexion.)

Adding a new member to my currently-limited span of accessories and what better than to add one of the trendier items now!

I've seen many renditions of this pearl choker necklace but never got down to investing in one because the pearls were always so huge! I've a relatively small neck (and face) and I didn't want the necklace to look like their choking me even though I absolutely adored it. Then came along The Cloveri!

I found out about them through a senior who recently collaborated with them on a series of their pearl-related accessories, including the above necklace and I instantly fell in love! Things got better when my senior provided a discount code for 5% off! (Hehe, I am definitely a sucker for discounts!) Anyway, my final bill came up to $17.95 (because I opted for self-collection). I cannot trust the postmen with delicate pieces like this one.

Also, I think I was lucky enough to cart out the last piece!

3. Lyla Cable Knit Cardigan ($34) from Ohvola

This handy cardigan came just in time with Ohvola's latest collection (date check: 7/10) and it came in 5 different colours (Creme, Red, Blue, Black & Grey)! When the teeter showed me this last night, I was so drawn into the creme one I told myself it is a must have. The teeter, on the other hand, was aiming for the black one but it was sold out 15 minutes after release (!) so she bought the grey one instead.

Anyway, as we enter the last 3 months of 2014, it is about time we hit the monsoon period. Which means rain, rain and more rain. In fact, even without rain, this cardigan is definitely what I need to get through cold lectures and even colder tutorials.

I love how casual the creme looks! It's also something different from what I usually go for. I have accumulated a lot of dark coloured clothes (mostly black actually) over the years and recently began adding some pink but creme is something new and I'm definitely looking forward to wearing this out already! I love how snuggly it looks and feels I probably won't get enough of it.

4. Accessories from Hollyhoque

This month marks my virgin purchase from Hollyhoque and is all in courtesy of the 35% discount promotion they held over this weekend (17 - 19 October) for items under their Jewelry tab. Oh boy, was I excited! 😁 I carted 3 items in total and paid $27.30 instead of the usual $42, excluding postage!

First up is the Rosie Sweetie Headband! They also have it in black but I guess I was going for the more girly look so I took the one in blush instead.

I've been in search for a similar design for a long time but never found one (how is that possible!?) until today (date check: 18/10)! It's retailing at just $6 and I wonder what took me so long to chance upon this beauty. 😍 I love the florals and the use of pastel colours for an overall softer look. I can't take my eyes of it!

Second item is the Emilia Rhinestone Necklace ($20):

I absolutely love the colour combination here. I've been told to stay away from green for fengshui reasons but I just couldn't resist the centre jade piece. 😌 Each colour compliments the other in such a subtle yet appealing manner and the usage of crystals just gives the entire piece a very sophisticated look.

It also gives an unexpected pop of colour when matched with my daily coordinates, which more often or not, includes the most basic pieces put together for school.

Last item I carted out for the day is the Royal Fever Embellished Necklace ($16):

There is just no way I could say no to this piece. The light touch of blue gives the entire necklace an upgrade without losing the touch of innocence brought about by the clear crystals. Something about the shape also draws me in. I have so much affection for simply-shaped yet attractive pieces like this.

5. The Path to Class Cape Top ($25) from Hollyhoque (sold out)

I have actually been eyeing this top for a while now but it was unfortunately sold out previously and was also out of stock on a couple of other sites so I cannot deny how excited I was when I saw this back in stock again! I was on the verge of carting this out but glad I wanted till the discount code came in unexpectedly.

With the discount code, I was entitled to 15% off for spending $45 and above. Which I did, by the way, because I also bought a pair of shorts. Unfortunately, after trying it on today, I feel that it looks weird on me even though it fits. So I eventually put it up on Carousell for sale. I also put the white top above on Carousell but I don't think I'm going to sell it anymore. 😌

6. Peek My Interest Top ($29 in store / $25.50 online) from Hollyhoque

Purchased this today (date check: 24/10) and it's going to be the last of my loots for October. I never realised that the prices in store and online were different. 😮 I mean, it comes as a surprise because I shop MDS almost every month and their prices are consistent whether online or not. (And they also offer free self-collection, which is damn awesome in my opinion.)

Anyway! I initially planned to wear this with my pink skirt (refer to 1) because I imagined my skirt to be worn  a bit high-waisted but it's too big and I now pull it down to my hips so I'll be revealing too much of my midriff if I wore this out together with the skirt. Sigh, I don't know what I'm going to do with this top yet but it's so exciting to challenge myself with different styles!

This top reinforces my belief in the notion that simplicity is the new chic and, well, I like simple. 😍

Going back to my roots with these black and white babies because I love anything monochrome but I also love anything pink/red.

If you're wondering (which I assume people will wonder), I pay for my own shopping. 😊

As October comes to a close, I'll be busy preparing for my upcoming papers and counting down to my Aunt's arrival in December. Hence, I'll probably not shop the entire November and just wait for all the year-end sales! I can't wait to shop for Christmas, honestly.

Shall take this opportunity to publicise shoutout to anyone who's willing to help me clear some of my items on Carousell! Fret not, most items have only been worn/used once. I'm letting them go because they're either too big for me or because I know I won't wear them anymore. So do come visit!

(P.S: Already thought of what to get my sister and mother! Shopping for my brother can be a bit difficult though 😞)

Baggin TTR

Everyone probably already knows I've been shopping MDS for the longest time and I rarely  switch to other brands because I usually can get whatever I need/want from MDS. Safe to say, though, their recent collections are personally a little disappointing. But I guess it's also a good time to start looking into other retail outlets. In the last couple of weeks, I've frequented FashMob , TCL , TexasRed , YoungHungryFree , Everyday People ,  TTR  and I've to say TTR is by far my favourite. I've gone back so many times with the thought of carting out more items and I am honestly having a hard time resisting the temptation to. I previously only bagged the Flippy Scuba Skirt  (Black Tropicals) because it was the first time shopping with TTR. I take a while to get convinced about the shopping experience but glad to say I fell in love with my first purchase and thereafter did not hesitate to go back for more. I constantly check in to see their latest collecti...

I remember

It's Sunday night all over again. I can hear slight drizzle against the window panes and I'm watching the lights on the other building go out. People must be heading to bed and I wonder: Do they dread waking up to Monday? Do they hate Monday? Do their bodies feel unusually heavy on Monday mornings? Do they drag their feet into office? It was a surprisingly tough day today. But it reminded me of the conversations I had with Ains. " You're really too nice. That's why people always bully you, " she said. I knew this for a long time but I was thinking of the best way to construe my personality without sounding like a pushover because I'm not. I simply developed a sizable threshold for bullshit over the years. I suppose it is my way of maintaining zen and a passive way to show I'm backing down because I believe there's no reason putting up a fight against anyone who has decided not to give me a real chance even before the argument began. To some, when I...
