SHELTY

Some nights ago, as I was walking home, I suddenly thought about Shelty and how he's not going to be with me forever. And that made me kind of sad. That night, I came home and found him on my brother's bed. He was in his shirt, all cuddled up underneath my brother's comforter. I went up to him as quietly as I could but he still woke up in the midst of his sleep and looked at me with his eyes half-open. I almost cried. I kissed him and whispered: " Thank you, baby, for being part of my life. " I was still about to cry. I stuffed my head into him and gave him tummy rubs (much against his will I imagine) but I still did it anyway because if I didn't, I felt as if I'd be missing out on something so precious. A couple of nights ago, we came home from an event and it was almost midnight. I was dead-tired and kept complaining about how I had to work the following morning. After showering, I heard my brother mention how he didn't have enough s...

IN HEAVEN

Good day, every one! This weather calls for bun-up hair! Beginning the post with a #selfie I took before I left the house early this afternoon just because I decided to try a different style today. I decked myself in comfy clothes since I was going to spend the day with my baby cousins. ;-) Gonna asteric (*) some terms I'll be using in the rest of my post so read till the end to find out what they mean. The Indian blood in me is part of a relatively small group of Indian dialect known as Malayali, originating from the Indian state of Kerela (which is where my Grandfather is from). And because we're considered a small group in Singapore, terms we use to address our family members are quite unfamiliar to others. There was a time I didn't embrace the Indian blood in me because Indians were the minority and people often made fun of the Tamil language. Whenever I said I'm half-Indian, I was immediately associated with the Tamils and hence became a subj...

LOVE

I recalled attempting the #100happydays challenge but it seems I've failed to keep track of the days. ☹ Instead! I've thought of a real   good topic for today's post. ( I think?  ☺) One of my aunts was reading a self-help book and she was coming up with 30 things she liked about herself. During which, she asked me if I could think of any adjectives starting with the letter B. And I gave her brilliant . With that in mind, I decided to come up with some 30 things I like about myself. ☺ I find that I'm always so hard on myself. When I fail to meet expectations, when I'm pressured to do consistently well in school, when life challenges me; I blame myself for all my shortcomings. I guess all I want to tell myself is you've done well . Through the years of endless struggles and difficulties, I've come this far in life. ☺ I stand strong and firm and I'm proud of myself for being me. And to every one else as well: You've done well. I know we all ...

SECOND TIME @ NANA'S GREEN TEA

Good day, folks! In the last couple of days, my Macbaby has been starting up in safe boot mode and I've tried everything I can to exit that stupid  mode but to no avail. Also, no matter how many times I try, it keeps telling me the password I keyed in is wrong. (Does that even make sense!?) That explains why I haven't been able to update the site for a while. Not that anything in particular happened but I couldn't upload the post I crafted for Father's Day because the codings were all out of place and I was using the iPad. I couldn't even save a draft because the iPad was going cray cray as well. Anyway, I've been too lazy to get my Macbaby serviced so I'm using the sister's one for now. So yesterday, I met Melly for dinner at Plaza Sing. We wanted to try 4fingers (like finally ) but I only found out yesterday that the outlet at PS is no longer there!? Been wanting to try 4fingers since forever but oh well, next time. Next time I'm going to t...

Moonlight

Now playing: EXO-M - Moonlight 月光 Good day, folks! Greeting y'all again because it's been a good day and I want to remember it for as long as I can. ☺ Earlier today I woke up at 11AM. Surprisingly late but it seems my body clock has shifted again . I used to wake up around 9AM without an alarm and I think of that as a good thing but these days I've become sooooo  tired I don't wake up unless I need to pee. But anyway, yes, I woke up at 11AM. ☺ I went for a jog around noon because the weather was lovely - 28° outside. I had to take advantage of that so I went for a quick jog (and burnt 221 calories according to Runtastic). Today's run felt slightly different. No, I'm pretty sure my stamina did not improve in 5 days but my heart was beating extremely fast and it wouldn't slow down even as I cooled down. (That is weird, right?) For a moment there, I thought I was about to die. Thank God I'm alive, really. So I came home and prepared to meet Nisa...

SEE YOU SOON

So, some 2 weeks ago, my (maternal) grandmother suffered a heart attack and was admitted into NUH in the wee hours of  Thursday morning. It appeared to be pretty serious this time round, bringing the idea of mortality so close that my mom decided my aunts should return to Singapore just in case. Within the next couple of days, my aunts from Cardiff (Wales, United Kingdom) and Ottawa (Canada) were here. They were at the hospital every single day because my grandmother was supposed to undergo a surgery. But the doctors later decided any form of surgery wasn't going to be helpful so she eventually got discharged (2 days ago) after going through tests after tests to find the best way to manage her heart's condition. And today is my aunts' last day in Singapore. I'm not too disappointed because we see each other over FaceTime/Tango every weekend and we have made plans to visit. (Last year, I went to Cardiff in case y'all don't remember. This July, I'll be g...

GOOD DAYS

#Day 18 (12/04/2014): I did nothing productive today! But I guess the good thing is I got to laze around and take things slow. Saturdays like this are so precious I wish they never had to end. ☺ #Day 19 (13/04/2014): Spent a couple of hours at the gran's place today! As usual, spent a lot of time talking to my demented grandfather, who is also very, very  hard on hearing but I love talking to him nonetheless. ☺ I love his responses and his quirky remarks. I only pray he'll be around long enough to see me get married and that he'll always be healthy and strong. ☺ #Day 20 (14/04/2014): It's the first day of the last week of school and while I'm excited, I'm scared too. Korean listening went pretty okay. We also made kimbap  during class. ☺ I ate mine on the spot so no photos but just know I enjoyed myself today! I really like my Korean class. Even though I don't know most of them, my tutor is really encouraging and she's so enthusiastic about...

Photography

#Day 2 (27/3/2014): Amidst half preparing myself for a test plus half battling sleep deprivation, I was pleasantly greeted by a Facebook notification on Kay Chin's comments in response to my work. Nothing beats having your efforts recognized. ☺  Most of you are probably already aware but I'm taking a module called Photojournalism  and Kay Chin is the teacher in charge. Pretty nice fellow! He's apparently a famous photographer in Singapore and he even has his own Wikipedia page. If you're wondering, the second comment is actually a critique for an assignment: Caption:  When someone we never thought we had to live without stops coming home, the only thing that's left is the void he/she left behind. No matter how hard we try, no matter how much time passes, that void will probably remain for a long time. Even though the adult in us has learned to move, sometimes the child in us continues to wish for him/her to miraculously show up at our doorst...

Turning 21 (Part II)

So I've decided to update y'all on the second part of my 21st birthday. Now it feels like I've many more parts to come because every update is bit of this and that.  But this one is meant for all my relatives who came! ☺ A bit of a sidetrack before I move onto the topic: Some 2 weeks have passed since I celebrated my 21st but I don't really feel there's much of a difference.  Anyway, I've given up on editing my photos so please make do with the unedited ones. (Pardon my poor  photo editing skills from the previous post as well. ☺) Mandatory shot of me "cutting" my cake In all honesty possible, we had a hard time cutting the cake. It was an ice-cream cake (Loco Moco from the kids' choice of birthday cakes) from Swensense by the way. We paid $150 for the cake, which I can't argue whether it was a reasonable price or not but for 3kg of hazel nut and chocolate ice-cream, why not ? ☺ I had a to make a wish while blowing the can...

2014

8 days into 2014 and I can safely say the year is off to a good start. ☺ Starting off the post with a group shot of Mel, Sab, Kat and myself when we met last Thursday. ☺ The initial plan was to go to Mind Cafe but it was raining so we took shelter at Plaza Sing. Sab suggested we go for some ice-cream but Baskin Robbins was too expensive so Kat brought us to this place called Merely Ice Cream., which wasn't much cheaper but still cheaper. ☺ Anyway, their ice-cream flavours are rather exquisite so it's a good idea to go try if you guys have the time. ☺ I had root beer float and Mel had salted butterscotch (?) while Sab had dark chocolate and Kat… I can't remember. ☹ But go try anyway! I remember they had green tea and other unique flavours. Plus, everything is made from fresh fruits (says their Facebook page) so all the better. ☺ Moving on! Throwback to Christmas at the Uncle's place. ☺ (Intentionally chose photos from that day because I look… ...

Finally lap.

Greeting y'all with a selfie fresh after my haircut last week! ت I went back to bangs and also took 1-inch off the ends. And I've been receiving positive feedback ever since! My friends say I look different, younger and more innocent . My family, however, don't praise my appearance very much. In fact, they don't say anything whenever I change my hairstyle. ☹ That's that! With Monday coming to an end, I thought it'd be a good time to update this site a little before I plunge into completing a virtually never-ending list of items, which revolves around meeting deadlines and preparing for whatever upcoming (graded) assignments. Thankfully, it's the final week of school and as much as I'm nervous for the consecutive challenges , I can't wait for Friday to be over. ت There was literally  nothing much in school today. For the first time after 5 weeks, I met my group mates to think up a phenomenon to write a 5 page report on, which is...
