Crafty Wednesdays!

I'm ever so proud of my productive Wednesdays because I've no school and I start my day early. (-: I complete my readings for the rest of the week by 6PM and I've the rest of the evening to do other things.

Today! I did something I've always wanted to try for a long time and that is to revamp a notebook! Yes, I did it and I'm pretty satisfied with the end result because its my first time attempting.

A couple of weeks back, I bought an A4 sized notebook from Cotton On since they were having a discount. I paid $5 (or $10) for it but the cover was stained. As expected from (defected) goods on sale, but I wasn't bothered.

To get an idea of what my book looked like initially, imagine a baby pink hardcover notebook. Nothing spectacular but it was a pretty shade of pink just that it happened to be stained right in the middle. I bought it anyway.

Thereafter, I wrapped the book with brown paper twice.

So I ended up with something like that. It was even more plain than how it originally looked like but I was more contented with this look than the stained version. I didn't stop there however!

With a ruler, and lots of different colored markers, I began my revamp.

And there! I ended up with a rather colorful (or bright) cover instead with my name imprinted right in front. (-:

I drew random lines from corner to corner. (They don't have to be, though.) But the idea is to draw the lines randomly and then color them at random as well! I actually used crayons at first (explains the bright blue) but it didn't work well on the texture of my brown paper so I switched to markers instead. (-:

BEFORE | AFTER

I'd say it was a pretty fruitful piece of work. I admit I was getting slightly impatient towards the end because there were so many to color but seeing the end result, I'm really happy. (-:

I never imagined myself being successful on first attempts especially when it comes to crafty ideas like this one. I know its pretty straightforward and simple but I've never been much of an arts person. I was really more inclined to academics since that's what I've done my entire life. But I'm really, really glad I tried. And well, I could have done better but this is good enough on a first try!

I'm thinking of how I should design my ring file next. Its currently a bright shade of yellow but I imagine it would look nice with flowers and curls!

Will see how things go and update again!

Murhphy's Law

" Why don't you take a loan? " " Is it worth it? " " I don't know but I know you wanna go. " ---------- Today, the bestf introduced me to one of Murphy's Laws. (I just Googled it and realize he has many laws.) Anyway, the one most relevant to my life right now is the one that states anything that can go wrong, will go wrong  and I guess the bestf had all the reasons to share Murphy's Law with me. The sister and I brought Shelty to see his doctor today. We were half-sure his doctor would suggest surgery so we tried our best to mentally prepare ourselves for the blow. Nothing too unexpected except the cost . Of course, I'd say $2-2.5k for a surgery of that scale is considerably reasonable. After all, Shelty's got dislocated hips (hence the disjoined joints). But, nonetheless, $2-2.5k is something we never imagined. Not before and definitely not now with all the debts we've to pay off. We had a long day. Both the ...

JULY'15 LOOTS OF THE MONTH

There's a fridge magnet on my refrigerator that very aptly describes me when it comes to my shopping. The teeter actually bought it for me when we were in the U.K two years ago and till today, nothing has changed. I have shopped all my life and still have nothing to wear. That's right, that's me. But, to be fair, I actually make it a point to clear my clothes once or twice a year because we do not have enough storage to hold all the clothes my teeter and I have together. Not just clothes, of course. I clear out my bags, shoes and lingerie too. So once again, it is the time of the month to share all the ahem  amazing items I bought. If you're wondering, and if you've been following, I did do a bit of shopping in the U.K. Not much because that wasn't the main objective of our trip but I enjoyed browsing through the racks of clothes at New Look, possibly my favourite brand in the U.K, and Aldo. Shopping in Singapore is still quite the experience for me n...
